Landing culture change in a complex law enforcement organisation
The challenge
COVID-19 and the directive to reduce their estate by a third meant our law enforcement client needed to make changes to how they worked and move to a hybrid working model. And to add to the challenge, they were expected to do this almost overnight. Delivering alongside other consultants, the goal was to land significant culture change by building awareness of new technologies, increased engagement with senior officers, and a training campaign for all staff.
Our approach
- Facilitated tailored one-to-one engagement sessions to create buy-in from Chief Officer Groups, allowing us to develop a clear, consistent change narrative and get senior endorsement for the recommended changes.
- Led the end-to-end design, development and rollout of a training programme available to all staff, including managing all the logistics.
- Developed all content, including LinkedIn Learning modules, user guides, videos, online training workshops for officers and staff, and inspiring bite-sized content like the Little Blue Book of Smarter Working to engage staff.
- Collaborated with serving officers to make sure the content was relevant for different user groups and upskilled the in-house business change team to run the workshops alongside us.
The outcomes
- Approximately 25% of officers and staff trained in Microsoft Office 365 and engaged in a significant culture shift to hybrid ways of working.
- Using a continuous improvement approach, we carried out extensive maturity assessments, demonstrating an increase in the adoption of hybrid working approaches for several teams.
- The Business Change Team upskilled in project management, training development methodologies and presentation skills.
- Our work received an Outstanding Achievement Award for the successful delivery of large-scale training on a critical area of business during the public health constraints of COVID-19.
